Reiki is a healing practice originating in Japan. It is a word formed from two words, Rei, meaning “Universal” and Ki meaning “Life Energy”. Reiki practitioners lightly place their hands on, or just above, the person receiving treatment, with the goal of facilitating the person's own healing response. Reiki energy is not generated by the practitioner, rather, it flows through the practitioner to the one receiving the treatment, making their healing system more powerful. It is powerfully restorative, rebalancing and calming to the body. Reiki is used for its physical, mental and emotional healing enhancements. In the United States, Reiki is also part of the Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) system, practiced in many Western Hospitals https://www.centerforreikiresearch.org/Downloads/HospitalListTable.pdf and the American Medical Association (AMA) has added Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) treatments to their directory of billable procedures.
